I wanted to get this out there before it actually happened, so those of you who are reading this can check it out for yourselves, especially those who speak Spanish (if you don’t, you can still connect through the magical language of art).

I’m talking about the launch of the book ‘El libro de la sombra o recortes de la memoria’, rough translation: The book of shadows or clipings of memories’ by Pescador and Jose Antonio Galloso. This book is a collaboration from two artists- one a painter and the other a writer. Both artist were born the same year and are from what some may call “rival” countries- Chile and Peru. The artists came to the U.S. through different roads and at different times but crossed paths at similar times in their lives. ‘El libro de la sombra o recortes de la memoria’ is about images, words, poetry, and what a collaboration of similar visions and different mediums can accomplish.

Pancho ‘Pescador’ Fischer is originally from Chile and is a self-taught visual artist living in Oakland. He has shown his work at various galleries through out the Bay Area including El Balazo Gallery and the Melting Point Gallery. Pescador is also one of the artist participating in the third issue of Eth6.
Jose Antonio Galloso is from Peru and a fiction writer living in San Francisco. He wrote the books ‘EL MAL VIAJE’ (2007) and TRES DIAS PARA MATEO (1990), among others. He has also published short stories in publications such as Etiqueta Negra (Black Label), a Peruvian based multidisciplinary magazine featuring journalism, photography, culture, and poetry.

The release party will take place at the San Francisco Central Library located at 100 Larkin St. from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. There will be books for sale at the event and you will have the opportunity to get one signed by the authors. There will also be live music with the group ‘Pacharkachas.
